Warning: This post is by an “I wanna have great skin too!” half baked potato who has realized the importance of following a skin care routine. So here’s a minimalist skin care routine for lazy peeps like me.
Skin is the largest and most visible organ in our body and your skin is different from mine – not talking of oily, dry, acne or pigmented skin we’re speaking of it in terms of sex. Men’s skin is different from women’s in terms of texture, thickness and pigmentation, men’s skin tend to be more oilier than women’s due to the increased presence of sebaceous glands. So dear men your skin maybe more resistant to sun, dust and all other 10 skin problems that our ads warn us about, however sadly my friend you’re still not resistant from age and dirt. So here’s a basic skin care routine that anyone can follow.
STEP ONE: CLEANSING
This is where we start. Cleansing your face twice a day is a mantra to be followed by-heart for a clean healthy skin. Finding a good cleanser which removes dirt and oil is not hard to find. Simply pick whatever’s available at hand – including that everyday soap if that’s the only cleanser you have at home. Later when you get serious on your routine invest on a good cleanser which suits your skin.
STEP TWO: EXFOLIATING
Our skin is a magic machine which rejuvenates itself every 30 days or so therefore the you-you are today will not be the you-you would be after 7 years (good news no?). As our dead skins peels away they sometimes leave some residue behind which turns into pores, blackheads and causes pigmentation. That’s why it’s necessary to scrub off those stubborn dead cells using a face scrub once or twice a week.
STEP THREE: SUNSCREENING
Using sunscreens might sound unnecessary right now but it’s better to dab some good sunscreen thirty minutes before heading out than to regret it later when you start seeing those early signs of ageing. Apart from protecting our skin from harsh UV rays it also prevents premature ageing.
STEP FOUR: MOISTURIZING
Apart from proper hydration and a balanced diet that everyone recommends for a healthy skin, external application of moisturizers gives our skin that extra boost making it look healthy and moisturized.
Sun plus pollution plus moisturizer under sunscreen is an oily combo I know!!, but that’s what people with great skin recommend but ahem!!, to be honest, I don’t practice this, instead I use a night cream after cleansing before hitting the bed.
I hope this couch potato’s post helps you start with your skin care routine. Just remember that consistency is the secret behind any change so whatever you do be consistent to see the difference.
